Manu Noonien-Singh's core personality traits are his adaptability, courage, determination, intelligence, and unconditional kindness. As a family-orientated individual and the elder child of two, Manu grew up the embodiment of what he believed a good son and a good man should be: candid, dutiful, level-headed, reliable, sensitive, and deeply understanding. His motivation being to make his family proud and to restore honor to the name Noonien-Singh.
After he was deposited on a Gorn breeding planet, Manu used his mind and protective instincts to surveil the brutal reptilian species and uncover their particular method of communication to use it against them, outsmarting the Gorn with the research he had gathered. He also proved himself to be incredibly selfless by sacrificing his life to save the life of his sister.
Once Manu eventually managed to escape the planetary nursery, he was, understandably, left severely traumatized by his ordeal, which resulted in a case of untreated PTSD, anxiety, survivor's guilt, and episodes of depression. However, rather than withdraw into himself and push the world away out of fear, Manu continued to embrace it, just as he always had. Choosing to seek out connection rather than reject it, unwilling to lose his all-important humanity to anger and fear.

ABOUT
Was captured as a teenager by the Gorn, where he was then deposited on one of their planetary nurseries along with the rest of his family's colony ship. During this time, Manu was hunted for food by the Gorn's hatchlings and for icky breeding sack purposes by the adult Gorn.
At some unknown point, Manu discovered how the Gorn communicate (a type of morse code) and journalled his findings. He also found out about their ritual, the last one, which he would later use to save his sister's life by sacrificing his own, letting the monsters think La'an was the sole survivor of their attack.
For six more cycles, Manu continued to play hide and seek on hard mode until he was eventually able to escape by stealing a Gorn hunter (a type of small warship employed by the Gorn Hegemony during the 23rd century), which he later renamed the Wrath after his ancestor, Khan Noonien-Singh.
Following on from his freedom, Manu looked for La'an for ten whole years before reluctantly believing her to be dead.
To support himself during this time, Manu became a part-time salvager and scrapper to cover the cost of basic living and to keep his ship going strong as he ventured around the uncharted depths of non-Federation space, making use of his talent for linguistics along the way.
Between this, Manu has been using the Wrath to save unsuspecting ships from Gorn attacks, tricking the reptilian species into thinking he's one of their own while collecting data to prove the monsters aren't a myth, and to map out their ever-expanding hunting grounds. However, to date, Manu has never been able to find the location of their homeworld.
CANON POINT
THE PLANETARY NURSERY
Think a combination of Alien (1979) and Predators (2010), but with a bipedal reptilian species that hunt you down day and night either for food or to use you as breeding stock by splurging an infectious venom on you that will essentially turn you into a host to incubate their eggs.
OUTSIDE OF FEDERATION SPACE
Saving people, hunting Gorn, the family business. Or, well, it is now.
USS ENTERPRISE
After a chance encounter with the USS Enterprise, following a Gorn starship battle or planetary attack, Manu joins the crew on their five year mission to explore strange new worlds. To seek out new life and civilizations. To boldly go where no (wo)man has gone before!
JOINING STARFLEET
Traumatised star boy becomes a security asset and xenolinguistics aid.
TIME COPS
Manu is recruited to join the Department of Temporal Investigations.
MIRROR UNIVERSE
Captain of the ISS Khan's Wrath, named after his infamous ancestor, Khan Noonien-Singh, whose line is considered "noble," its members considered "born rulers" by some, Manu is the 23rd century descendant of the Augmented human. Many believe the Imperial Throne to be his birthright.
THE LAST ONE
Inspired by MKS57 and the Tumblr rarepair that is Manu/Sera, what if… the ritual of "the last one" told by La'an to Captain Pike was actually a misunderstanding? Instead, the ritual is actually the last male and female, except where La'an's Mark IV liferaft drifted into Federation space, Manu's drifted into Romulan space.
THE ARENA
After Manu's liferaft is found in Orion space, he is captured and forced into slavery at the pirate's salvage yard on Hunhau; however, after proving to be more trouble than he's worth, he is sold instead to the Orion Syndicate who make him a fighter in an underground gladiatorial ring.
HEGEMONY
Following the events of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds: Season 2, Episode 10, a very much not dead Manu arrives at the end of the episode to offer aid against the Gorn's attack.
STAR WARS: ATTACK OF THE GIANT LIZARDS
Following the events of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds: Season 2, Episode 10, Captain Pike's attempt to engage the Gorn to rescue his crew ends very, very badly. The Enterprise is destroyed and emboldened by the attack, the Gorn invade Earth. Growing ever bolder with each success, they set out to further expand their territory across the rest of the galaxy, ravaging some planets and turning others such as Qo'noS, Remus, and Vulcan into new planetary nurseries.
THE MANULORIAN
Either a full-blown Star Wars AU with Manu being rescued and raised by the Mandalorians after his Mark IV liferaft was discovered by them or Manu becomes a bounty hunter with a strict moral code within the Star Trek universe instead of a scrapper and salvager.
DEFAULT SETTING
Please note that, by default, Manu will always be portrayed prior to encountering La'an and the starship Enterprise. However, regarding castmates, if anyone else is as emotional about best big brother™ as me, then I'm more than happy to write him into any canon point of SNW to make something work!

SPACESHIPS:

Yes to other Star Trek castmates, discussion otherwise preferred.
CROSSOVERS:
Other sci-fi canons preferred for now, since Manu is currently more serious Trek than shenanigans Trek.
BACKTAGGING:
As long as both players remain interested, I'm more than happy to backtag into eternity.
THREADJACKING:
Depends on the thread.
MIND READING:
He doesn't have any mental barriers, so individuals with psychic/telepathic abilities will be able to penetrate his mind, however, Manu would much prefer to be asked for permission first, since his head is filled with all sorts of horrible imagery and painful memories.
FIGHTING:
In the physical sense, Manu isn't a fighter by nature and would instead prefer to ideally resolve conflict with his words than with his fists. Having said that, he is more than capable of holding his own if he has to.
The only exception to his general "brains over brawn" rule is the Gorn, who trigger his aggression and sense of self-preservation.
ROMANCE:
Given how I personally interpret Manu's character, I don't see him as someone who would be comfortable involving himself in no strings attached encounters for casual pleasure, escapism, stress relief, et cetera, et cetera; therefore, at the moment, I'm only interested in exploring meaningful connections and/or serious relationships with him. Additional preferences include M/F and no characters under the age of 25.
SHIPPING PREFERENCES
Currently only interested in Sera of Romulus (in every universe) because rarepair reasons established through Discord and Tumblr, but if the CR is there with someone else, I would be open to discussing it.
